Living Word of Hope CBO

Rooted in love. Growing in hope.

Living Word of Hope is a family-style home in Kombewa, Kisumu County.

From one girl's loss to a home for many

Monicah Ooko was eight years old when she lost her parents and was left to care for three younger siblings. Their small hut had no door. Food was never certain. For a time, the children lived on the streets.

Near a Christian crusade, Monicah heard a message of salvation that changed the direction of her life. She returned to work, saved what she could, and rented a house so her siblings could be together again. As word spread, more children with nowhere else to go found their way to her door.

In 2012 the work was formally begun as Africa Living Word Children Home. In 2024 it was registered as Africa Living Word of Hope Children Home, and today it continues as Living Word of Hope CBO: a home for 55 children and a source of support for widows and vulnerable families across Kisumu County.

children call us family

A safe home is only the beginning.

Our vision is a nurturing, safe and empowering environment where every child is given the opportunity to grow with dignity, receive a quality education, and develop the confidence to thrive.

Our mission is to provide a loving, safe and nurturing home for orphaned and vulnerable children, empowering them through education, spiritual growth and life skills to become responsible, independent and compassionate people.

  • A safe, stable home
  • School fees, uniforms, books and tutoring
  • Healthcare, counselling and nutritious meals
  • Faith, mentorship and life-skills training

Six values shape every day in our home.

They are not slogans on a wall. They are how we speak to a child, how we handle a gift, and how we keep going when the day is long.

Faith

Trusting God to be the provider and sustainer of this home.

Love

Showing each child that they are deeply valued and accepted.

Hope

Community

Our impact, in numbers
